Dog walking in Belém
Belém gives you an hour of flat riverside walking, which counts for a lot in Lisbon. The price is the crowds: between 10am and 6pm the gardens by the monuments are a corridor of visitors.

Jardim da Praça do Império
Broad, flat and formal. Heavy with visitors, so best early.
Jardim Afonso de Albuquerque
Deep shade and benches, right opposite the palace.
Passeio ribeirinho até Algés
Long, flat and beside the river. A full hour of walking without a single climb.
The ground
Flat from end to end, with even paving and plenty of open space. Early in the morning it is a different neighbourhood — which is how we use it with dogs that dislike crowds.
